MUKILTEO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 6 JOB TITLE: GROUNDSKEEPER III - LEAD JOB SUMMARY: Lead and direct grounds personnel in the development and maintenance of all district grounds. TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Direct and assign work to grounds personnel. - Lead, direct, and work with grounds personnel in maintaining lawns and athletic facilities to include mowing, fertilizing, seeding, thatching, aerating and top dressing. - Lead, direct and work with grounds personnel in maintaining and developing landscaping to include preparation of ground for lawns, plants, trees, planting shrubs; plant seeds, bulbs, shrubs; rake leaves; pull, hoe and cut weeds, prune, spray and fertilize. - Lead, direct, and work with grounds personnel in performing a variety of grounds related tasks to include: remove debris, snow and ice from walks, driveways, and other concrete/asphalt areas; install and repair playground equipment, fences; drainage maintenance; install and maintain irrigation systems. - Use a variety of equipment to include: hand implements and tools; push, riding and gang mowers; ditch witch, back hoe, tractor and other large commercial equipment; edger, weed eater, blower, grinder, chain saw, and other power equipment. - Write repair orders, order and purchase materials, and complete required reports and recordkeeping. - Monitor and inspect routine task completion and special projects assigned to grounds staff to ensure quality control. - Assist in performance evaluations of grounds staff. - Meet regularly with the Supervisor of Maintenance and Grounds for project planning and development of year round and/or seasonal grounds maintenance priorities. - Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed expectations for attendance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High school graduation or its equivalent. - Ability to read, write, follow written/oral directions, and perform basic math. - Valid Washington Driver's License with acceptable driving record. - Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain. - Five (5) years experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping. - Possess State certification for the application of herbicides and insecticides. - Ability to perform heavy physical work and to withstand inclement weather. - Strong public relations, communication and organization skills. - Demonstrated ability to lead and direct personnel, to work cooperatively with students, staff, parents and general public and to remain flexible.
OTHER INFORMATION: 8 hours per day; year round position; hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; rate of pay is $21.64 to $22.91 per hour.
