Bill was born and raised in Portland, OR, has a Certificate of completion in Turf Management from Portland Community College, 13 years experience as a golf course superintendent in Oregon and Washington, and spent 18 years as a Turf Management instructor, 4 at Portland Community College, and is in his 14th year at Walla Walla Community College.
Other highlights of his career include:
  • O.G.C.S.A. (Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association)
  • Past board member, Past vice president, Co-originated and developed the annual
    pesticide seminar, 1989 - Distinguished Service Award.
  • N.T.A. (Northwest Turfgrass Association) Current board member and Past President.
  • I.E.G.C.S.A. (Inland Empire Golf Course Superintendents Association). Former board member - 17 years, and Past President.
  • PNWSTMA (Pacific Northwest Sports Turf Managers Association) Vice President.

Tim Werner has worked with the City of Richland's Parks and Recreation Department since November of 2003. As the Parks and Facilities Manager he oversees approximately 2,162 acres of park land that consist of 62 sites and about 500,000 sq. ft. of building space. Prior to working with the city he worked with Grant County PUD as a Land Specialist, City of Walla Walla as Park Maintenance Supervisor, Whitman College as Landscape Supervisor, and operated Land Art Landscaping as the owner. He has been involved in a variety of positions with Washington Recreation and Parks Association (WRPA), Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Arborist (PNWISA), Northwest Turfgrass Association (NTA), and Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA).

Laura has been in the Turf and Ornamental Industry since 1976. For the past twenty five years, she has specialized in turf management, particularly sports field management.She has been a "Master Gardener" for WSU, holds a lifetime Nurseryperson certification with WSNLA and has numerous licenses. Laura has an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and a Master's degree in international marketing.
Laura taught Turf management classes for Edmonds Community College and organized and taught seminars and classes relating to turf, and has written a gardening column for a local newspaper. She has appeared on The Ed Hume Television gardening show and radio programs.
Laura owns Environmental Diagnostics LLC, a turf management consulting firm whose motto is "Striving for a Better Environment through Education."
Laura is a former president of the Seattle Chapter of Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association, a former President of The Friendship Force of Whidbey Island (an international home stay program), and has served on advisory boards for both Lake Washington Technical College and South Seattle Community College.
Laura and her husband Steve travel extensively and spend part of each year on Maui. They are members of Useless Bay Golf and Country Club on Whidbey Island, WA where they live with their dog, cat, four sheep, and two dwarf pigmy goats. Their log home and garden were featured on the 2007 Whidbey Island Garden Tour and in NW Business Monthly for November 2007.

Jeff is co-owner of Greenshield Systems® sports turf drainage company. Jeff has been instrumental in developing a unique drainage system and specialized equipment which leads the industry in efficient and effective design and installation of drainage for athletic fields and golf courses. Jeff and Greenshield Systems® have provided sustainable turf solutions for customers in the Western United States. Greenshield Systems® is involved with multiple turf related associations and Jeff has participated as a guest/education speaker for WRPA, OSFMA, WOMOA, WTLS, WWGCSA, and OGCSA.

Responsibilities: Extension Turfgrass Specialist (Associate Agronomist) for Washington State University-Puyallup. 88% Extension: 12% Teaching. Previous Responsibilities: Worked within the turfgrass industry since 1974. Previous work experience has included: Assistant Superintendent at Medinah Country Club, Medinah, Illinois; Golf Course Operations Instructor at Lake City Community College, Lake City, Florida; Area Agronomist for TruGreen Corporation in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Have been with WSU Puyallup for 22 years in September 2011. Work in areas of IPM: specifically:1) European crane fly control; 2) Athletic turf mixes and wear tolerances; 3) Turfgrass diseases in the PNW; 4) Efficient use of water on turfgrass areas
